I really enjoyed this book, having read it in just over one sitting. The author's rhythmic prose weaves her intimate experiences with men and the luck of finding a large ponderosa tree felled deep in the forest. Regardless of whether her relationship involves human passion, such as with Sloan, or organic and earthy fervor, such as with Papa South, the search for warmth in the wilderness becomes challenging. She describe colorful past experiences and shares the meaningful perspective of living a single life in a dense forest just below the tall mountains. At times the author's descriptions are told in poignant detail. But to me this book resonates of a primitive longing in all of us to connect with nature. Cindy Bellinger's "Into the Heat," is a refreshing, superb read.
